Race the river, cheer from the shore, or just join the party! Grab a picnic basket and head up river from the Bill Healy Bridge on the river trail for an amazing view of this 5th Annual Meadow Camp Kayak Race.

The Meadow Camp Kayak Race will cover a continuous 2.5 mile section of class 3 and class 4+ Whitewater with easy spectator access and viewing throughout the run. The Meadow Camp run is starting to achieve some national recognition. The whitewater run is of high consequence so racers will be starting in 2min increments, racing purely against the clock. If attempted by inexperienced paddlers the run can end with tragic results. This section of the Deschutes River is powerful, rugged and demanding.

The visuals alone are worth the hike in. The competitors will earn your cheers and admiration by dancing with some of Mother Natures most powerful forces. Grab some cold ones, throw in some snacks, then head out on a little adventure to a part of the river you may have never seen. Come and join some of the NW region’s finest boaters as they mob down this amazing section of the Deschutes River.

There will be a short boat and a long boat division, as well as a 2 man raft division. There will also be an inflatable kayak division. Given there are mens and womens classes for each division, spectators can count on some mind bending shows of athleticism.

Proceeds go to BPTA.

NOTE-Don’t miss the after party at Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe time TBD
